Mechanism of action
A
Selective b2 agonist
Stimulates adrenergic receptors of sympathomimetic nervous system resulting in smooth muscle relaxation in the bronchial tree and perpipheral vasculature

Indications
A
Bronchospasms with reversible obstructive airway disease (COPD/Asthma)

Contradindications
A
Allergy
Tachycardia dysrhythmias especially those causeed by digitalis
Syngergistic with other sympathomimetics

Adult dose
A
2.5 mg over 10-15 minutes
Repeat max of 3 doses after 20 minutes

Pediatric dose
A
<1 year old or < 10 kg
administer half of adult dose
> 1 year old or > 10 kg
administer adult dose
Repeat max of 3 doses after 20 minutes
