Large tongue – jaw thrust helps
 Large head, short neck – Large occiput closes airway and padding is required under shoulders to maintain neutral alignment, head first if fall
 Small face & mandible
Narrow nostrils - Nostrils block easy, ++ mucous, obligatory nasal breathers until 6/12 
 Loose teeth
 Delicate soft palate – may get damaged in airway procedures. OPA right way until 8 years
 High horseshoe shaped epiglottis - intubation
Pliable ribs
Greater oxygen consumption
Weak intercostal muscles
Higher metabolic rates
80ml/kg blood volume
Differing levels of interaction and abilities
Abdominal contents more exposed
High anterior larynx
 Narrow cricoid ring 
 Trachea short & soft
 Symmetrical bronchi
 Small immature lungs
 Skull not fused 
 Bones softer
