97
Q

Name the muscle and its origin, insertion, innervation, and action

A

Extensor hallucis brevis muscle

Origin: Dorsal portion of calcaneus

Insertion: Dorsal surface of the base of the proximal phalanx of hallux

Innervation: Deep peroneal nerve

Action: Extends hallux

98
Q

Name the muscle and its origin, insertion, innervation, and action

A

Extensor digitorum brevis muscle

Origin: Dorsal and lateral surface of the calcaneus

Insertion: Lateral sides of the extensor digitorum longus tendons to digits 2-4

Innervation: Deep peroneal nerve

Action: Extends digits 2-4

99
Q

Name the muscle and its origin, insertion, innervation, and action

A

Dorsal interossei muscles of the foot

Origin: Adjacent sides of the two metatarsal bones between which it is located

Insertion: Bases of the proximal phalanges of the second, third, and fourth toes and into the aponeurosis of the tendons of the extensor digitorum longus

Innervation: Lateral plantar nerve

Action: Flexes the MTP joints. Extends the PIP joints and the DIP joints. Abduct at the MTP joints of the third and fourth toes. Because there is a pair of dorsal interossei muscles attached on both sides of the second toe, simultaneous contraction of these muscles results in no movement

100
Q

Name the muscle and its origin, insertion, innervation, and action

A

Abductor hallucis muscle

Origin: Flexor retinaculum, medial process of the calcaneal tuberosity, plantar aponeurosis

Insertion: Tibial side of the base of the proximal phalanx of hallux

Innervation: Medial plantar nerve (branch of the tibial)

Action: Abducts hallux

101
Q

Name the muscle and its origin, insertion, innervation, and action

A

Abductor digiti minimi muscle of the foot

Origin: Lateral process of the calcaneal tuberosity and the plantar aponeurosis

Insertion: Fibular side of the proximal phalanx of the fifth digit

Innervation: Lateral plantar nerve (branch of the tibial)

Action: Abducts and flexes the fifth digit

102
Q

Name the muscle and its origin, insertion, innervation, and action

A

Quadratus plantae muscle

Origin: Two slips via the medial and lateral sides of the calcaneus

Insertion: Tendon of flexor digitorum longus

Innervation: Lateral plantar nerve (branch of tibial)

Action: Toe flexion at MTP joints 2-5

103
Q

Name the muscle and its origin, insertion, innervation, and action

A

Flexor digitorum brevis muscle

Origin: Medial process of calcaneal tuberosity, plantar aponeurosis

Insertion: Lateral surfaces of middle phalanges of digits 2-5

Innervation: Medial plantar nerve (branch of tibial)

Action: Flexes digits 2-5

104
Q

Name the muscle and its origin, insertion, innervation, and action

A

Flexor hallucis brevis muscle

Origin: Plantar surface of lateral cuneiform and cuboid bones, tendon of tibialis posterior

Insertion: Lateral and medial aspects of base of proximal phalanx of hallux

Innervation: Medial plantar nerve

Action: Toe flexion at hallux MTP joint

105
Q

Name the muscle and its origin, insertion, innervation, and action

A

Flexor digiti minimi brevis muscle of the foot

Origin: Base of the fifth metatarsal bone, sheath of peroneus longus

Insertion: Lateral side of base of proximal phalanx of fifth toe

Innervation: Lateral plantar nerve (superficial branch)

Action: Flexes the MTP joint of the fifth toe

106
Q

Name the muscle and its origin, insertion, innervation, and action

A

Adductor hallucis muscle

Origin (oblique head): Bases of metatarsals 2-4, sheath of tendon of peroneus longus

Origin (transverse head): Plantar MTP ligaments of toes 3-5

Insertion: Lateral side of hallux

Innervation: Lateral plantar nerve

Action: Adducts hallux

107
Q

Name the muscle and its origin, insertion, innervation, and action

A

Plantar interossei muscles

Origin: Bases and medial sides of metatarsals 3-5

Insertion: Medial bases of proximal phalanges of digits 3-5

Innervation: Lateral plantar nerve

Action: Adducts toes 3-5, flexes the MTP joints of toes 3-5, extends PIP joint and DIP joints of toes 3-5

108
Q

Name the muscle and its origin, insertion, innervation, and action

A

Lumbrical muscles of the foot

Origin: Tendons of flexor digitorum longus

Insertion: Dorsal surface of proximal phalanges and extensor digitorum longus expansion of digits 2-5

Innervation (lumbrical 1): Medial plantar nerve

Innervation (lumbricals 2-4): Lateral plantar nerve

Action: Flexes the MTP joints and extends the PIP joins and DIP joints of toes 2-5
