Effect of the assassination of Franz Ferdinand/cause the war
A.H. issued the ultimatum (threat to invade as a consequence) to Serbia.
Russia went to protect Serbs.
Germany joined to back up A.H. and officially declared war.
Germans went through Belgium, which brought both Britain and France into war (around 4th of August).

Why did the Serbian nationalist want to kill him
The ethnic Serbians stuck in Austria-Hungary wanted to leave, but due to the German and Austrian rule, they could not. Franz was a symbol as well as heir to the thrown, being the monarch (at the time’s) nephew
What happened at the assassination?
In Caravaggio, Italy, with his wife.
Princip was a serbian nationalist who took his chance to shoot the two. (June 28th 1914)

Did not want to bring Russia in to war.
Franz Ferdinand would have brought rights for Serbian people
