Many American’s who did not live in American cities believed that the new and spreading values associated with urban life needed to be oppposed: due to their conern/beief their rural way of life was being assualted and threatened.

Identify Watergate

A

A White House political scandal that came to light during the 1972 presidential campaign, growing out of a break-in at the Democratic party headquarters at the Watergate apartment-office complex in Washington, D.C., and, after Congressional hearings, culminating in the resignation of President Nixon in 1974.

Thematic Importance: Displayed for the first time that the laws of the nation are superior to the acttions of the president. In addition showed the president’s powers are limited
