A

A number of quadrats placed at random intervals along a line

What is the capture/recapture technique

A

Organisms that are not stationary cannot be counted accurately in quadrats. Therefore when they are caught they are marked and then released. When a second sample is caught, it is easy to differentiate between the new organisms and the ones that have already be captured
