cardiovascular vessels 2 Flashcards
(59 cards)
4 parts of aorta and their landmarks
- Ascending (aortic valve to sternal angle)
- Aortic Arch (T4/5)
- Thoracic (T4/5 to T12) Aortic hiatus
- Abdominal (aortic hiatus or L1 to L4*)
Ascending Aorta
- posterior to pulmonary trunk
- travels superior and anterior
Ascending Aorta to Coronary Arteries Pathway
Where does the Aortic Arch Start and End
T4/5
- directed superiorly and posterioly
45RPO/LAO makes it parallel to the IR
3 Branches coming off the aortic arch
- Brachiocephalic Trunk
- Left Common Carotid
- Left Subclavian A
Braciocephalic Trunk
Where is it on the aorta?
In the body?
What does it branch into
- 1st branch off the arch
Posterior to the Right SC joint - Divides into right common carotid and right subclavian
What are the 4 main arteries that supply the brain
- Right Common Carotid A
- Left Common Carotid A
- Right Vertebral A
- Left Vertebral A
Common Carotid Arteries Branch into… and where?
Internal and External Carotid Arteries
- AT C4
Internal Carotid Artery is formed by what and enters brain where
- formed by the carotid sinus and enters through the carotif canal of the temporal bone
Internal Carotid Artery turns into
Anterior and middle cerebral arteries at the pituitary gland
Anterior Cerebral A supplys
Frontal Lobe of the Cerebrum
Middle Cerebral A supplys
Temporal and parietal lobes
Vertebral Arteries Arise from
Subclavian Arteries
(ascend through the transverse foramina of c-spine and enters through the foramen magnum)
Right and Left Vertebral Arteries Form
Basilar artery
Basilar Artery forms
- R & L Posterior Cerebral Artery (supplies the posterior portion of the cerebrum and cerebellum)
Easiest Route to the Cerebral Artery
Left subclavian to left vertebral
Label
What is the Circle of Willis
- Elaborate anastemoses of the entire brain
- Anterior and Posterior L & R circulations are connected
- Surrounds the pituitary gland
Anterior Communicating Artery Connects…?
Both Anterior cerebral srteries
- provides shunt from either side of the brain
- ability for blood to get to either side of the frontal lobe cerebral arteries
Posterior Communicating Artery Connects…?
Posterior Cerebral A to Internal Carotid A
- Provides Anterior to Posterior connection
Label the Circle of Willis
Label
- Right internal Carotid A
- Right anterior Cerebral A
- Right middle Cerebral A
- Anterior Communicating A
Label
- Right Vertebral A
- Basilar A
- Right Posterior Cerebral A
- Right Posterior Communicating A
What vessels carry oxygenated blood to the brain
- R/L Vertebral A
- R/L Carotid A
