what is the altert phase? what was the research?

A

when a baby signals that they ready for some interaction.

mothers pick up and respond to the alert phase 2/3 of the time, this varied from external factors and skills of mother though. from around 3 months this becomes more frequent

A

the temporal coordination of micro level social behaviour taking place when caregivers and babies interact when emotions and actions mirror each other
OR
Simply:
when a baby and caregiver carry out actions simultaneously, it’s temporal coordination of social behaviour, emotions and actions mirror each other .

Isabella observed 30 mums and babies together and assessed synchrony. and also assessed the quality of attachment.

P. there is high control as they are filmed in a lab
E. other activity that may distract the baby is controlled, and as they are filmed its unlikely for the researcher to miss key behaviour as they can revise the recordings at a later date

P. there will be no demand characteristics while studying babies
E. tis is because of the fact babies will be unaware of the situation and as such wont change their behaviours to align with that of the research.

P. the research conducted is socially sensitive
E. the findings suggest that a baby wont develop as well if their PAF returns to work and as such the guardian feels that their return will hinder their child’s development
E. parents on a low income may delay returning to work which could possibly disadvantage them upon return or financially
