Symbolic ethnicity
Ethnic identity that is only relevant on specific occasions and does not significantly impact everyday life
Ethnicity

Minority group

Racial assimilation
Racial Minority groups are absorbed into dominant group through intermarriage
Cultural assimilation
Racial groups are absorbed into the dominant group by adopting ones culture
Pluralism
A cultural pattern of interfering relations that encourages racial and ethnic variation
