Urbanization
an increase in the proportion of people living in urban areas
Rural-urban migration
the long-term movement of people away from the countryside to towns and cities
Push factors
the negative features of a place that cause people to move away from it
Pull factors
the attractions and positive features of a place that make people want to move there

the transition zone between the city and its suburbs and the countryside
Urban sprawl
the uncontrolled growth of urban areas at their edges
Deindustrialization
the long-term, absolute decline in employment in the manufacturing sectors of an economy(referring to a loss of jobs rather than a decline in productivity)
Positive deindustrialization
a situation where industries replace their workforce with machines, making them(the industry) more competitive
Negative deindustrialization
a situation where the number of workers in an industry decline, but there is no compensating rise in productivity or mechanization
Reindustrialization
the revitalization of a region’s industrial capacity(e.g. through government policies and investments)
