What is nephrolithiasis?
Kidney stones
What is the purpose of this system?
To regulate and maintain the composition of the blood and to remove waste products of metabolism, by producing,transporting, storing, and excreting urine.
What is pyelonephritis?
Inflammation and infection of the renal pelvis of the kidney.
What does UTI stand for?
Urinary tract infection.
What are the three types of renal failure?
Acute renal failure
Chronic renal failure
End-Stage renal disease
What color is normal urine?
Light yellow to Amber
What does pink to smokey colored urine mean?
Red blood cells from bleeding
What does turbid(cloudy or milky) colored urine mean?
White blood cells and a UTI
What is dysuria?
Painful urination
What is nocturia?
Frequent urination at night
What is polyuria?
Excessive production of urine
What is pyuria?
White blood cells in urine
What is anuria?
The absence of urine
What is hematuria?
Blood in the urine
What is enuresis?
The involuntary release of urine in a person who should have bladder control.m
What is uremia?
Excessive amount of urea in the blood because of renal failure.
What is cystitis?
Inflammation or infection of the bladder.
What is urinary retention?
The inability to empty the bladder because of an obstruction.
What does the abbreviation I&O mean?
Intake and Output
What is acute renal failure?
It occurs suddenly, due to trauma, major blood loss, or overwhelming, infection.
What is chronic renal failure?
Begins with renal insufficiency, progressive damage to the kidneys.
What is end-stage renal disease?
Irreversible stage; no remaining kidney function.
