What is asexual reproduction?
involves just 1 parent
(indentical)
What does asexual reproduction do?
can quickly & effiently produce new plants (all identical)
what are tubers?
harvested,to be used for food
Where are tubers planted?
underground
What does sexual reproduction mean?
involves 2 gametes(people)
(genetically different)
what are gametes?
a sex cell (egg & sperm cells)
what does fertilisation mean?
the fusion of 2 gametes & nuclei
What is a zygote?
a cell that is formed by the fusion of 2 gametes
What does the zygote contain?
chromosomes from both it parents
name the 2 types of gametes that repoduce sexually?
female gamete(large & do not move)
male gametes(smaller & they move)
in plants,where is the male gamete found?
inside the pollen grains
in plants,where are the female gametes found?
inside a ovule
What are the function of a flower?
to make gametes & to ensure that fertilisation takes place
what are on the outside of a flower?
sepals (which are green)
what does sepals do?
protect the flower when its a bud
what are inside the sepals?
the petals
what does sepals do?
attract insects to the flower

the stamens
What is stamens?
the male parts of the flower
What are each stamen made up of?
a long filament with a anther at the top
What does anther contain?
pollen grains
Where is the female part of the flower?
in the center
What is a carpel?
the female part of a flower
What does a carpel contain?
an ovary
