describe primary production with milk
cows are grass-fed to be kept healthy and produce more milk. cows udders are then washed and other equipment needed is cleaned. then farmers use suction cups that suck milk from the cows udders which then travel through pipes and stored in refrigerated vats.
describe processing and packaging with milk
milk gets filtered, cooled and stored around 4 degrees in vats. then its sent to milk factories to test and package the milk. fresh milk gets into factory vats for pasteurization (when milk is rapidly heated to 72 degrees, then quickly chilled back to 4 degrees) to kill bacteria and extend shelf life. homogenization occurs to milk as well to prevent the cream settling on top of the milk.
machines then pour milk into cartons/bottles and gets put into crates so it can be transported. packaging of milk informs customers of the milk type e.g. skim, full cream, kids
Why are grains a popular choice in modern cooking?
versatility, health benefits, and sustainability
