Quantitative variables
Exist in some degree rather than all or not alumna continuing from Lester more
Categorical variables
Do not vary in degree, amount, or quantity but a qualitatively different
Independent variables
Those that the researcher chooses to study in order to assess the possible effects on one or more other variables
Dependent variable
Depends on what the independent variable does to it how it affects it
Manipulated variable
Is one that the researcher creates
Experimental variables or treatment variable
One or more variables created by the researcher
Moderator variable
A special type of independent variable that is a secondary Independent variable that has been selected for study in order to determine if it affects or modifies the basic relationship between the primary independent variable and the dependent variable
Mediator variable
Is one that attempts to explain the relationship between the two other variables
Extraneous variables
Independent variables that have not been controlled
Hypothesis
A prediction of the possible outcomes of the study
Bias
The act of arranging the procedures for manipulation of the data in such a way as to bring about the desired outcome
Directional hypothesis
The specific direction such as higher, lower, more, or less that a researcher expects to emerge in a relationship
Nondirectional hypothesis
A lack of specific prediction about what direction the outcome of the study will take
Propositions
Statement of ideas before the beginning of the study
