Pressure injury
Occurs when pressure over a bony prominence is not relieved and the blood supply to that area is occluded, or cut off
Fomite
An inanimate object that harbors a germ or parasite

The forward bending of the upper back, giving the classic hunched look of osteoporosis

A belief in something not true, or that is not supported by evidence

Difficulty swallowing
Aspiration
Inhaling vomit, food, or saliva into the lungs

Human immunodeficiency virus; it targets and destroys a type of blood cell, called T cells
AIDS
Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome; it is the end stage of an HIV infection when the body’s immune system is severely damaged
Kaposi’s sarcoma
A cancer caused by a virus that is closely related to AIDS infections; it is identified by purplish lesions
Cancer
Diseases in which abnormal cells divided without control and can invade other tissues
Metastasis
Cancer that has spread or moved to other areas of the body
Benign tumor
A tumor that is not cancerous
