Q

Rubber dam is pretty important in this for what reason?

A

helps keep the area dry, and helps improve vision.

3
Q

internal line angles of posterior composite restorations should be square or rounded?

A

rounded, this reduces polymerization shrinkage and decreases post-operative sensitivity

Q

Name some ideal class 2 composite prep criteria

A
  1. rounded internal line angles
  2. divergent walls
  3. slightly greater than 90 deg cavosurface
  4. proxibal floor should not be beveled.
  5. smooth pulpal floor
  6. 2mm deep pulpal floor
  7. external outline is dictated by caries
  8. for convenience form, the explorer tip should slide freely through cervical box and proximal wall areas.

7
Q

for composite class 2, do you need a S shape curve ? and where the proximal box start to flare?

A

it is not needed, the flare starts at the axial wall.

Q

Whats the simplified process of adding composite?

A

etch 30 seconds, dry ( dont desicate), apply dentin/enamel bonding agent and light cure

Q

Placing the composite for a class 2

A

fill proximal bod 1/2 to occlusal, with round instrument move composite to buccal and lingual walls then cure

13
Q

what if the carie is so deep the floor is cementum and not enamel?

A

we do not etch cementum! we place SDI glass ionemer at the cervical margin and then composite on top of that. ( this is the open sandwich technique)

14
Q

whats the closed sandwich technique?

A

it maintains the bond between the composite and the enamel. The glass ionomer is between

15
Q

applying composite to occlusal portion.

A

drag composite toward the margins with a wide flat blade ( dont use ball burnisher for this part). Add some anatomical grooves and ridges. light cure

16
Q

When adjusting the occlusion what burs must be used?

A

fluted or round composite finishing burs

17
Q

after adjustments have been made what do you do?

A

polish with polishing burs and then you can use the polishing paste

18
Q

when can you use the Tunnel prep?

A

when theres no proximal tooth and the careis are only below the marginal ridge and there are no occlusal caries. ( its pretty much a window in the side of the tooth)
