School devalues that wc habitus as worthless causing symbolic violence which reproduced the class structure and keeps the wc in their place. Wc feel they need to change how they talked and behaved in order to do well in education

Symbolic violence has led pupils to seek alternative ways of self worth and status. This is done by investing heavily in styles and brands. Style performances are heavily policed by peer groups and not conforming was social suicide. This conducted with schools middle class habitus dress code and was labelled bad taste. This stigmatises the wc identity causing them to self exclude from education
