When does it present?

Genetic condition affecting small intestine, characterised by prolamine (protein found in gluten) sensitivity leading to villous atrophy and malabsorption
Any age - young/old

Symptoms:
Abdominal pain
N+V
Diarrhoea
Weight loss
Signs:
Weight loss/Failure To Thrive
Anaemia
Pallor
Abdominal distension
Steatorrhoea
Dermatitis herpetiformis

What is dermatitis herpetiformis?
A
Purpuric papulovesicular lesions over buttocks, trunk and extensors

What are the findings on OGD suggestive of coeliac disease?
A
Villous atrophy
Crypt hyperplasia
Increased intraepithelial T-lymphocytes
