Provided the selected VHF radio is the default DATA radio, when a new FREQ is selected in the STBY window
Describe the VHF radio stuck microphone protection?
EICAS message RADIO TRANSMIT if stuck for more than 30 sec.
On ground with both Engines off having transmitted for more than 35 seconds
What do dashes in the RTP frequency window indicate?
Radio has failed or is disconnected
Where can HF sensitivity be set?
On the Radio Tuning panel (RTP)
When does the HF antenna tune?
When an HF transmitter is keyed after a FREQ change
How many HF antennas are installed?
1, common to both HF radios
How are normal crew alerts indicated?
Visual: EICAS message with bullet symbol
Aural: High- low chime
Can both HF systems simulaneoulsy receive from the common antenna?
No
How many radio systems ae monitored by SELCAL?
3 VHF and 2 HF
What does the SATCOM CALL light indicate?
An incoming SATCOM call
How is a SATCOM call terminated?
When either party ends the call
Which system is used to commuicate with the ground engineer?
The FLT interphone system
What is the purpose of the service interphone switch on the overhead panel?
To connect to the Flight interphone system through the service interphone switch
What PA announcement has the highest priority?
FLT deck announcement from an ACP
How is a call initiated to a flight attnedant station?
Select “CAB tx select switch” on an ACP and push the mic/interphone switch
How is a priority call from the cabin indicated on the flight deck?
EICAS message “CABIN ALERT”
How can a purser call be initiated from the ACP?
Press CAB transmitter select switch twice within 1 second
What is the flight deck handset PTT switch used for?
Connects the handset mic to the selected PA area
Only used in PA mode
