Q

Will high brake temperature set off the fire detection warning in the wheel wells?

A

No, only excessive heat will.

Heat from a tire fire will set it off

15
Q

What happens when the fire handle is pulled?

A
  1. The engine and spar fuel valve closes
  2. Bleed air valves closes
  3. Shuts off HYD fluid and depressurizes the engine driven pump
  4. GEN field breaker is tripped
  5. Arms the fire bottles

16
Q

How long should you wait before you discharge the 2nd engine fire bottle?

A

30 seconds

17
Q

Is engine overheat a Warning or a Caution?

A

Caution

18
Q

How many APU fire bottles are there?

A

1

19
Q

How is the APU fire bottle discharged?

A

Pull APU fire handle to shut down the APU and rotate the handle in any direction

20
Q

What happens when the APU fire handle is pulled?

A
  1. The fuel valve closes
  2. Bleed air valves closes
  3. Shuts off HYD fluid and depressurizes the engine driven pump
  4. GEN field breaker is tripped
  5. Arms the fire bottles
  6. Inlet door closes
21
Q

How many fire loops are needed to detect a fire on the ground with both engines shut down?

A

Only one

22
Q

When is APU fire detection and extingusihing fully automatic?

A

When both engines are shut down and the APU is running

23
Q

What is the difference between attended and un-attended mode?

A

Attended mode needs both loops to detect fire to give warning
Un-attended only needs one.
The un-attended mode causes the fire extinguishing system to function fully automatic

24
Q

What fire protection systems are in the cargo compartments?

A

Smoke detection and fire extinguishing

25
Q

How is the bulk cargo compartment protected from fires?

A

Via the AFT compartments systems

26
Q

In flight, how many cargo fire bottles discharge immediately?

A

Two

27
Q

In flight, when and how many of the metered bottles will discharge?

A

They will discharge if the plane haven’t landed within 20min all 3 metered bottles discharge

28
Q

What happens in regards to the cargo fire system if the rapid bottles have been discharged and the plane land within 20 min?

A

Only 1 of the metered bottles discharge

29
Q

If the aircraft is on the ground and has a cargo fire and the rapid bottles are discharged. How many metered bottles will discharge? And after how long time?

A

1 metered bottle will discharge after 20 min

30
Q

What procedure can be done to reduce airflow around the cargo compartments if a cargo fire occurs in flight?

A

Increase the LDG altitude. This increase the cabin altitude which decreases the differential pressure

31
Q

What happens when the cargo fire switch is pressed to ARM?

A
  1. Arms bottle squibs and fwd flow valve squibs
  2. Ventilation and re-circulation fans shut down
  3. Packs provides minimum flow
  4. Equipment cooling override mode activates
32
Q

What happens if you arm both cargo fire switches and discharges the bottles?

A

Agent will go into both compartments and it might be insufficient to extinguish the fires

33
Q

What is the indication of lavatory smoke?

A

“SMOKE LAVATORY” advisory on EICAS

34
Q

How is fire extinguishing accomplished int the lavatories?

A

Automatically by extinguisher located in the waste container cabinet. There is no flight deck indication of this

35
Q

When is the automatic fire test performed?

A

Automatically during power-up
