Me gustaría ponerme en forma - I would like to get fit
Seria mejor ir a pie - it would be better to go on foot
- what someone said would happen
Dijeron que llegarían a las dos - they said they would arrive at two
- what you would do (if..)
Si estuviera en forma, recorrería el Camino Inca hasta Machu Picchu - if I were fit I would go on the Inca trail to Machu Picchu
Conditional of deber is used with an infinitive to talk about what someone ought to/ should do
El gobierno debería inventar más en instalaciones deportivas - the government should invest more in sports facilities
The conditional of poder is used with an infinitive to talk about what someone could do
Podríamos viajar más barato en el tren
We could travel more cheaply by train

Start with the future tense stem and add conditional endings
Infinitive + AR, ER, IR - ía, ías, ía, íamos, íais, ían
Irregulars are the same as the future ones
