Force Protection
preventative measures taken to mitigate hostile actions against Dod assets
Antiterrorism (AT)
Defensive measures taken to reduce the vulnerability of personnel facilities, and equipment to acts of terrorism
EX: stand-off distances, perimeter security, facility hardening
Counterterrorism
Activities and ops taken to neutralize terrorists and their organizations and networks in order to render then incapable of using violence to instill fear
Active Defense
the employment of limited offensive action and counterattacks to deny a contested area or position to the enemy
EX: Random AT measures, surveillance, defeating hostile force
Passive defense
measures taken to reduce the probability of and to minimize the effects of damage caused by hostile action without the intention of taking initiative
EX: training/education, camo/conceal/deception
Entry Control Points
Limit to an absolute minimum and establish a separate ECPs for trucks and delivery vehicles at an appreciable standoff distance from inhabited facilities

Standoff distances, road layout, layering, dispersal of critical resources, compartmentalization
