Q

Situational crime prevention

A

This means we need to alter the immidiate environment or increase the effort and risks of commit crime and reducing the reward. Target hardening measure like locking doors increases the effort a burglar needs to make. This relates to rational choice theory meaning we need to make the punishment of the crime outweigh the reward.

There is evidence to support these measures but their implementation would be very expensive and ut would take a long time to see effects. The politician which introduces this wouldn’t even still be in office to see its progression
