data analysis: graphs Flashcards
(7 cards)
1
Q
bar charts used?
A
- data representing difference in mean values visually
- bc bar charts are used by data divided into categories (discrete data)
2
Q
scattergrams used?
A
- depicit associations between co-variables
- represents strength and direction between co-variables in correlation
3
Q
normal distribution?
A
- symmetrical spread of frequency forming bell- shaped pattern
- mean, median, mode located at highest peak
4
Q
features of normal distribution?
A
- mean, median, mode located at peak/mid point of curve
- tails of curve/slop never touch X-axis (therefore never reach 0)
5
Q
skewed distribution?
A
- spread of frequency data that is not symmetrical where data clusters to one end.
6
Q
positive skew?
A
- type of distribution which the long tail/ slope is on the positive (right) side of peak and most of distribution is on left
7
Q
negative skew?
A
- type of distribution which long tail/slope is on negative (left) side of peak and most of distribution is on right
