What’s included in an abstract?
A
- first section of journal article
- short summary of whole study
- includes aim, hypothesis, method, results, conclusion
- reader overview of study and whether read rest of study or not

A
- literature review of relevant theories and concepts related to study being done
- broad overview of research then narrowed down
- leads to aims/hypothesis

A
- design, sample, materials, procedure
- in enough detail so reader could replicate study
- ethical issues and how addressed

A
- descriptive stats (graphs, tables, measures of central tendency)
- inferential stats: test used with justification, calculated + critical value, level of significance, hypothesis accepted or rejected

- results should be interpreted in verbal form and discussed
- limitations of study and suggested how can be addressed
- wider implications of research need to be considered and steps for future research
