What are the head code classifications?
1 - Express passenger train
2 - Normal passenger train
3 - Empty coaching stock if specially authorised
5 - Empty coaching stock

What does PTDT mean?
Prepare train door test
What is a non multi sticker used for?
Can you draw it?
Train coupler is defective - unable to couple to any other unit
Yellow square with a black cross through it, N in the north section, M in the south section, Non in the west section and Multi in the east section.
During cab prep what must you make sure the air pressure is on?
5.5 or above
To enter service a train MUST HAVE:
*2 TCOCs (sealed)
*10 Detinators (in plastic box, not more than 5 years old)
*2 red flags
*Emergency lights (sealed)
*Fire extinguisher (with pins, seals, in date and with pressure in green)
What is in the CRASH kit?
Crowbar
Rope
Axe
Saw
Hammer
What must be done before starting a DOOR TEST?
*Air pressure at 5.5 or above
*Driver (Liaise with drive to ensure it’s safe to do DT)
*Announcement (warn staff on board)
What is the DOOR TEST procedure?
START WITH OFFSIDE FIRST
1) Turn on DKS/DCP
2) Open and close your local door
3) Release doors at that side of the train
4) Turn off DKS and secure panel
5) Observe passenger controls illuminate on the side released
6) Open - Close - Open the door using passenger controls
7) Check the opposite side of the door controls are not illuminated and press the buttons to ensure there is no cross feed
8) Proceed down the train and complete steps 6 & 7 on each door until the end of the train
9) Check the following
- Any doors out of use are tested unless notes in repair book
- Emergency door release handles are in normal position with seals in tact
- Any potential hazards at doors?
- DCPs are secured
- Driving cabs not in use are locked
10) at the final end of the train turn on DKS and open local door.
11) FROM POSITION OF SAFETY - check hazards are illuminated and doors are open
12) Close doors with blue button, observe the doors closing and hazard lights extinguishing.
13) Close the local door
14) Buzz 3 - 2 - 1 to acknowledge door test and check buzzer is working
15) Repeat the process at the other side of the train - ENSURE PTI IS CLEAR BEFORE RELEASING DOORS ON PLATFORM SIDE - ENSURE TRAIN SAFETY CHECK IS DONE BEFORE CLOSING DOORS
If first aid is required how would you report it?
Inform Duty Control Manager and liaise with them
Fill in form A
If the starting signal is defective and showing DANGER, when may you dispatch your train?
- If the driver has informed you that the train has permission from the signaller to pass at danger
AND/OR
- If a hand signaller shows you a yellow hand signal in front of the danger aspect
Can you pass the signal at danger if you are restarting the train after a dispatch incident?
Yes, as the track circuit block will have turned the signal red when you pass the signal, meaning the train is already protected
what is a REQUEST STOP?
When a train works like a bus.
What must the conductor do prior to a request stop?
Check if any passengers are leaving the train at that stop
What is the process for a request stop?
If there are passengers waiting, driver will stop train as usual
If there are no passengers boarding the driver will give buzz buzz
If there are no passengers getting off conductor repeats back the buzz buzz
If customers are getting off, do’t repeat back the buzz buzz and the driver will stop
How often must you work a route or traction in order to remain competent?
At least every 6 months
What must you discuss when relieving traincrew?
*Any defective equipment
*Any passenger assist enquieries
*Stop/Do not stop orders
*Instructions from controller/signaller
*Anything to do with performance/safety
What is a route conductor?
Somebody who accompanies another conductor who doesn’t sign that route
What is a traction conductor?
Somebody who accompanies another conductor who doesn’t sign that traction
Who can remove a NOT TO BE MOVED sign?
Can you draw it?
Only the person who placed it

How can a conductor receive a Stop/Not to call order?
Verbally - Directly from control over the phone
Written slip - on authority of control by another member of staff
