What is the DOOR TEST procedure?

A

START WITH OFFSIDE FIRST

1) Turn on DKS/DCP
2) Open and close your local door
3) Release doors at that side of the train
4) Turn off DKS and secure panel
5) Observe passenger controls illuminate on the side released
6) Open - Close - Open the door using passenger controls
7) Check the opposite side of the door controls are not illuminated and press the buttons to ensure there is no cross feed
8) Proceed down the train and complete steps 6 & 7 on each door until the end of the train
9) Check the following
- Any doors out of use are tested unless notes in repair book
- Emergency door release handles are in normal position with seals in tact
- Any potential hazards at doors?
- DCPs are secured
- Driving cabs not in use are locked
10) at the final end of the train turn on DKS and open local door.
11) FROM POSITION OF SAFETY - check hazards are illuminated and doors are open
12) Close doors with blue button, observe the doors closing and hazard lights extinguishing.
13) Close the local door
14) Buzz 3 - 2 - 1 to acknowledge door test and check buzzer is working
15) Repeat the process at the other side of the train - ENSURE PTI IS CLEAR BEFORE RELEASING DOORS ON PLATFORM SIDE - ENSURE TRAIN SAFETY CHECK IS DONE BEFORE CLOSING DOORS

What must conductor do if the driver stops short of a platform?
Give 6 on the buzzer (draw forward), wait for driver to repeat back, give 1 on the buzzer when accommodated (if stood at the rear)

What happens when a driver overruns a station?
Driver gives 2-2 on the buzzer, DO NOT OPEN DOORS, repeat 2-2 back to the driver. Speak to the driver to find out what happened, follow any instructions.

How is a station over run reported?
Driver reports to signaller *You report to Duty Control Manager *Complete Form A before end of shift

What are the conditions for setting back after an over run?
Permission from a signaller The train has not overrun more than 400m

What do you do if a train FAILS TO CALL at a station?
1) Contact driver and find out why 2) Report to Duty Control Manager 3) Assist customers, endorse tickets, organise taxis etc 4) Complete Form A before end of shift

How can a conductor prevent fail to calls?
Check stops with driver prior to departure - check discrepancies with Train Service Controller

What should you NOT do if you stop at a station you are not booked to stop at and why?
You MUST NOT open the doors in case the driver starts to move the train. It could result in a Door Open in Transit. You could also get left behind, or it could impact the train performance.

What should you do if your train stops at a station it is not booked to stop at?
Report it to control (Not duty control manager) If anything unsafe happened, ie, a person leaning on the train, you must reach a clear understanding with the driver how to safely move from the platform

What should you do if a train stops out of course?
1) Look out on the SAFEST side of the train to find out why 2) Liaise with the driver 3) Deal with the situation and update your customers

What are the 5 possible causes of hazard lights remaining lit?
*Door open or not closed properly *Passcom operated *Aqueous Film Forming Foam (AFFF), aka Fire Bottles, have been activated *Track circuit actuator (TCA) is defective *Brake miniature circuit breaker (BMCB) has tripped

How will you know if the track circuit actuator has a fault?
Red light will display instead of a blue

Stop the train, press the red button on GMSR and place TCOCs on the adjacent lines Go to the affected door, close, secure and lock it. Transfer passengers out of the affected vehicle, lock it out of use Report it to Duty Control Manager Fill out Form D before the end of your shift

What should you do if you deem a DOIT to be suspicious or malicious?
-DO NOT close, secure or lock the affected door. -Contact BTP -Preserve the evidence

What should you do if there has been a DOIT and somebody has fallen out?
1) STOP the train immediately 2) Call emergency services 3) Go to the affected door, secure it, lock it out of use 4) Move passengers out of affected area if possible 5) Report to Duty Control Manager 6) Liaise with driver and follow instructions given by signaller or DCM 7) Fill in form D before the end of your shift

What should you do in the event of a self-evacuation? (Uncontrolled)
1) STOP THE TRAIN AND CONTACT THE DRIVER 2) Secure the door 3) Report to DCM and follow any instructions
