What distance must you be away from the detonator?
30 meters
What must you do if the tail lights/lamp fails?
If 1 tail light fails - report to the driver and maintenance control - can continue as normal. Fill in vehicle repair book.
If both tail lights fail complete above actions and attach TOC light to bullet and train lamp bracket. Display a red light.
Which doors must be kept locked during a journey?
End gangway doors
End gangway doors at connections that can’t be made
Doors to non public areas such as cab doors, vestibules with exposed DCP
What is a stop order and a not to stop order?
Stop order - instruction to stop at a station not booked
Not to stop order - An instruction NOT to stop at a station booked at
Can be given verbally from control over the phone, or on a written slip, on the authority of control, by another member of staff
Caused by another train cancellation, train running very late, unsafe platform conditions or infrastructure damage causing line blockages or diversions
You must:
-Contact the driver to inform them
-Make an announcement informing passengers of the changes

What will illuminate a hazard light on a train?
1) Door open or not closed properly

3) Aqueous Film Forming Foam (AFFF) fire bottles activated

How far apart do you place your detonators?
20m apart
If the max distance falls within a tunnel where do you place detonators?
At the start and the end of the tunnel
How many times can you use a TCOC? When can it be removed? Then where does it go?
What is the max speed of a train with a portable headlamp in place?
What if you only have a handlamp?
Portable headlamp 75 mph

When TBW or ESW is in operation
How will single line working affect the conductor?
1) If you stop at a station the train will stop on the opposite side
2) Must ensure you release doors on the correct side
3) Consider accessibility, differences on platforms etc
What does the driver need to tell you about with regards to TBW?
Driver needs to inform you that you’re going into temporary block working
If EBS is raised and your train divides what must you do?
Transfer customers to the front
Sit in the front cab of the rear unit
