Talk me through the request stop procedure?
1) Conductor checks if any passengers need to alight the train (announcements, train patrols)
2) Driver slows down and beeps horn on approach
3) If no passengers are waiting to board, driver gives RTS signal - buzz buzz
4) If no passengers are waiting to alight, conductor gives RTS signal - buzz buzz - train continues
5) If passengers are alighting, conductor doesn’t repeat back the RTS signal and the driver will then stop at the station
What is the max speed when your air suspension is defective?
Normal line speed unless customers can’t be moved, then 45 mph

1 Stop the train

1) If the DKS fails, try another DKS to allow passengers to disembark

Talk me through the long train short platform procedure?
1) Make an announcement
2) Patrol the train for passengers getting off at that stop

4) Open all accommodated doors using butterfly
5) allow passengers on/off the train
6) Check starting signal (if provided)
7) Close doors using the butterfly
8) Do train safety check, step on, close local door

10) Stay at local door observing for anything unsafe
EBS is isolated, what are your actions?
Reach a clear understanding with the driver of how to stop the train in an emergency

What would you do if you had a Door Open in Transit?
STOP THE TRAIN AND CONTACT THE DRIVER
1) Go to affected door, close, secure and lock it
2) If possible, transfer passengers out of affected vehicle
3) Report it to DCM
4) Complete form D
What indicator do you have if you’re coupling/uncoupling and what are your actions?
1) Come to understanding with driver on how you will communicate you have performed your duties and the driver can couple/uncouple
2) Make an announcement to passengers on board that the train doors are about to close as the train is about to couple. Ask them to sit or hold onto the handrail as they will feel a jolt
3) Warn customers on the platform to stand clear as units will be joined/separated
4) Close doors following usual procedure
5) Communicate with driver
6) Ensure DKS is off
7) Once finished, release doors with usual procedure
8) Direct customers to the correct unit if applicable
When are you a competent person to be in the driver’s cab?
When a driver has poor visibility and needs you to check a tunnel

A crack or score, 3 inches or more
(On compass, the answer is 3.1”)
What indicates that your train has a faulty coupler?
Non multi sign
Tail light and headlight failure, what are your actions? Any speed restrictions?
Use a Bardic light, a Toclight or a temporary headlight.
If a Bardic light speed restriction is 25 mph, if a TOClight or a temporary headlight, 75 mph
