Naja is used to indicate that you are thinking, and also when something regrettable happens to say: oh well.
Study the following examples:
Well, I’m not sure.
Naja, ich bin mir nicht sicher.
It broke? Oh well…
Es hat sich gebrochen? Naja…
Another word used when thinking is tja. However, this word can not be translated as oh well.
Study the following example:
Well, I’m not sure.
Tja, ich bin mir nicht sicher.
When listening to someone, and you want to let them know that you are listening and understanding, use the phrase ach so. This can be translated as: Oh I see or Oh really?
Study the following example:
Oh really? I didn’t know that.
Ach so. Das habe ich nicht gewusst.

- DIE NÄHE…vicinity / proximity / nearby

- BEDINGT…necessarily / absolutely
*If you really want to do something, use
unbedingt tun wollen, translating to: I’ve been dying to ~. - DIE MACHT…power die Macht (ä, -e)
- DER AUGENBLICK…moment / instant der Augenblick (-e)
- NAJA…oh well / umm… / well…
- TJA…well…
- ACH SO…Oh I see. / Oh really?
