what are cognitive DDs?
disorders that caused by one area impaired; dyslexia, dyscalculia
what are emotional and behavioural difficulties?
conduct disorders, ADHD, depression
what are pervasive difficulties?
all areas (cognitive, emotional and behavioural ) are affected: Autism
what is adaptive functioning?
how effectively individuals can cope with common life demands, assessed by interviewing caregivers
what are the three domains of adaptive functioning identified by DSM?
conceptual (ability to remember), social (interpersonal skills, following rules, understanding others, and make or keep friends), and practical (daily living activity; using money, doing home activities)

repetitive behaviour; that has no immediate, practical significancy
because of genetic, self-reinforcing, and self-regulation reason

that can cause property distruction and harm to another person
what are the factors of DDs?
biological factors; genetic, neurological, hormonal etc
environmental factors; poverty, violent neighbourhood, mental illness
what is diathesis -stress model?
Diathesis; genetic inheritance, neurotransmitter problems, early learning experiences
environmental stressors; harmful physical stressors, relationship, jobs

what is attention deficit hyperactivity disorder??
ADHD
has three categories 1) cannot focus 2) hyper active 3) both (simptom has to be lasting at least for 6months)
what is autism?
umbrella term for autism spectrum disorder
autism symptom???
symptom tend to appear in the first 2 years of life, including repetitive behaviour, social communications
any causes for ADHD??
sibilings of ADHD member tend to develop ADHD as well
treatment for ADHD??
behavioral psychotherapy; helping children time management; improving organization skill
medication; control neurotransmitters
