what is Cannon-Bard Theory??

A

one of physiological perspective on emotion, refers to the idea that emotional response and physiological reaction happen at the same time and independently
–> because different parts of the brain are responsible for experiences of emotion (thalamus) and expression of emotions (hypothalamus)

A

one of the cognitive perspectives in emotion, which refers to the idea that emotions are inferred by labeling each physiological responses as emotion.

ex) I label my trembling as fear because I appraise the situation as dangerous

what is cognitive appraisal theory? (Lazarus)

A

one of the cognitive perspectives on emotion, which refers to the idea that thinking about the stimuli must occur FIRST before experiencing emotion
–> we do not feel fear unless we judge the situation as fear-including

ex) oh there is a tiger, I appraise tiger as frightening. I tremble and i feel afraid.
