Openings in diaphragm?

A

3 openings:

aortic opening
Anterior to body of T12
Lies between crura
Transmits:
•Aorta
•Thoracic duct
•Azygous vein (drains blood from chest and abdominal wall)

esophageal opening
At the level of T10
Lies in a sling of muscle fibre derived from right crus
Transmits;
•Oesophagus
•Right and left vagus nerves
•Oesphageal branches of left vagus gastric vessel
•lymphatic vessels from lower 3rd of oesophagus

Caval opening
At the level of T8
In central tendon
Transmits;
•inferior vena cava
•right phrenic nerve
