1. forming- tentative, unclear, team leader must communicate whatis expected
2. storming- member defensive and hostile towards one another as group decisions are made. make sure members dont become scape goats. leaders must make sure conflicts dont get out of hand
3. norming- belonging and shared commitment to goals, leader should provide direction and corrective feedback when required
4. performing- team is fully functional, self organized and work well together, leader should offer support and encouragement
