Anytime the flight will land with 45 minutes of fuel or less with further delays possible/imminent

Anytime the onboard fuel is below 30 minutes duration
When is a takeoff alternate required?
Anytime the visibility for the departure airport is below the lowest CAT I minimums for the runway in use
How far can the takeoff alternate be?
One hour from the departure airport at normal cruise speed in smooth air with one engine inoperative
When is a destination alternate required?
Always, unless 1 hour before and after ETA the weather forecast is at least 2,000 ft and 3 miles visibility

When is a second alternate required?
When the weather for the destination and first alternate are forecast to be marginal

500 ft and 1 sm above the lowest suitable landing minimums for the airport

Enables a flight to be dispatched to a destination or alternate airport when one or both airports indicate by use of a conditional phrase in the remarks section that weather conditions could be below authorized minimums at ETA

What is a high mins captain?
Any captain who has not served as PIC for 100 hours in that type aircraft
What are the landing minimums for high mins captains?
Adding 100 feet to the DH and 1/2 sm to the required mins for the approach
Are alternate minimums increased for high mins captains?
No, they are not increased but must be no lower than 300 ft and 1 sm
