A

They inhibit thrombin or factor XA

18
Q

Which ones inhibit XA and which ones inhibit thrombin

A

Apixaban, Edoxaban,Rivaroxaban = XA
Dabigatran = Thrombin = this has a rapid onset of action

19
Q

DOAC indications

A
  • prophylaxis of stroke and systemic embolism in patients with non valvular AF
  • Secondary prevention and treatment of DVT or PE
-Prevention of VTE after elective surgery (hit or knee replacement)
  • Rivaroxaban - used to prevent anthrothrombic events including ACS
20
Q

A

Xarelto is the brand = Label 21 (15mg and 20mg) = higher strengths must be taken with food

21
