What is the dose? -what do the tablets come as?
500mg POM
What’s the indication?
Local fibronolysis, menorrhagia, herediatary angiodemas, epistaxisis - excessive nose blees
What does it do
Helps blood clotting - nose bleeding and heavy periods
What is the adult dose for periods
1g to be taken three times a day, up to 4 days when period starts. Maximum 4g per day
For nose bleeds
1g Three times a day for 7 days
What are the side effects
Nausea, vomitting, diarrhoea
What monitoring is needed
LFT, In long term use for hereditary angiodema
P med changes - what does it increase the risk of? Who is it contraindicated in?
Same dose as poms
18+
Take with or without food
Increases the risk of DVT with the pill
Contraindicated in epilepsy, DVT, irregular periods and pregnancy
Red flags
Colour vision changes, visual impairment
Legs or arms painful or swolllen red arm
SOB,Sharp pain in chest
Coughing or coughing up blood
Anaphylactic reaction
