Act 4 scene 1 - Othello’s speech switches from iambic pentameter to prose as he is so distressed by the idea that Des has cheated. The breakdown in speech mirrors an emotional breakdown as Othello “falls” into a trance after shouting in prose: “Is’t possible? Confess? Handkerchief!
