What happens if someone is bypassed?
She will discuss it with the person and file the reason, in writing, with Civil Service Commission. The name will be resubmitted on the list.
What if you are passed over 3 times?
Removed from list.
What if you don’t want the promotion?
You can ask, in writing, to the chief to be demoted. If approved, you will not go back on the list. If not approved, you must take the new position.
In order to help us succeed, what can we not do?
Promote to the same station, same shift, unless the Dept needs you.
When you apply, who is notified?
The chief or person postin, your BC and your Div Chief
Which shift commander provides a recommendation for an open position?
First, the BC will ask the CO and then the BC will talk to the appropriate shift commander. Then All 3 will report to the AC.
What will be considered in making a decision? (5)
Operational needs of the Dept Seniority Demonstration of Core Values Education, cents, and training Experience and other knowledge, skills, etc..
How long does the dept have to make a decision?
30 days
When can a staff person go back to OPs.
No sooner than the pay period of their 2 year anniversary
If you want to trade assignments, who do you need to write and how long do they have to act?
Each member’s AC and DC, 30 days
Can the Dept hold a position?
Yes, if you are in staff and within 30 days of getting out, they can hold a spot for you.

You die…off the list
