EAT ME Flashcards
(5 cards)
Patterns - EAT ME - size
IMAGERY OF BODY AND SIZE SUGGEST ENTRAPMENT
“Too fat” repitition creates claustrophobic effect - body is physical / psychological prison
“Too fat to use as emotional shield” - ironic as fat is seen for protection hut leaves her powerless here
“Judder like juggernaut” -
Unstoppable & Powerful but is framed as grotesque here
SHIFT
“He drowned in my flesh” - the body that trapped her is used to overpower him - transforms size into source of agency
Title - contextual to AIW - Lewis ?
-reinforces themes of power dynamics, autonomy & resistance
Lewis Carroll - Alice in wonderland
- Alice consumes cake that causes uncontrollable body growth
Title suggest both LITERAL CONSUMPTION (body is deliberately fattened) and
METAPHORICAL (reduced to object of desire/control)
Patterns - EAT ME - water
” was his Jacuzzi” - metaphorically transformed into an object of pleasure. A Jacuzzi is warm, enclosed, reflecting her constraints
• “A beached whale…craving a wave” - suggests helplessness and longing for movement/escape, as whales stranded on land die.
FINAL SHIFT
• “A tidal wave of flesh” - her body becomes an unstoppable force, drownsher abuser.
This reversal of power is significant: she transforms from the passive Jacuzzi to an active tidal wave.
