Q

Closed vs Open Circuits

A
  1. A closed circuit is when all components are properly connected to each other with wires without any gaps. Electric current can flow through the circuit
  2. An open circuit is when electric current cannot flow through the circuit. This could be because:
    - there are gaps eg wire not connected properly or a switch is left open
    - positive battery terminal is wrongly connected to another positive instead of a negative terminal

Q

Bulbs arranged in Series

A
  1. When more bulbs are added, the electric current passing through each bulb decreases.
  2. The brightness of each bulb thus decreases.
  3. Battery is used at the same rate.

Q

Bulbs arranged in Parallel

A
  1. When more bulbs are added in parallel, the electric current passing through each bulb remains the same.
  2. Brightness of each bulb thus remains the same.
  3. However, the batteries are depleted faster
