Electricity P5 Flashcards
(4 cards)
1
Q
Closed vs Open Circuits
A
- A closed circuit is when all components are properly connected to each other with wires without any gaps. Electric current can flow through the circuit
- An open circuit is when electric current cannot flow through the circuit. This could be because:
- there are gaps eg wire not connected properly or a switch is left open
- positive battery terminal is wrongly connected to another positive instead of a negative terminal

Q
Bulbs arranged in Series
A
- When more bulbs are added, the electric current passing through each bulb decreases.
- The brightness of each bulb thus decreases.
- Battery is used at the same rate.
3
Q
Bulbs arranged in Parallel
A
- When more bulbs are added in parallel, the electric current passing through each bulb remains the same.
- Brightness of each bulb thus remains the same.
- However, the batteries are depleted faster

Q
Batteries arranged in Series
A
- When more batteries are added in series, the electric current passing through each bulb increases.
- Brightness of each bulb increases
