What is the responsibility of staff when it comes to the health and safety protocols?
-Use training, equipment, tools and clothing provided
-Take responsibility for their own safety
-Report potential problems
Why is equality opportunities legislation important?
Staff need to ensure that their behaviour and communications do not discriminate against anyone according to the Equality Act 2010.
What are 9 characteristics staff are not allowed discriminate against?
-Gender
-Religious belief
-Marriage
-Sexual orientation
-Disability
-Pregnancy/maternity
-Ethnicity
-Age
-Gender reassignment (Gender transitioning)
When does the contract of employment begins?
As soon as job offer is accepted e.g. employees are entitled to a written statement of employment terms within 2 months of starting work
What would the contract of employment outline?
-The conditions of employment
-The rights of both parties
-The responsibility of both parties
-The duties the job involves
What are the expectations or professional behaviour that an employee must meet terms?
-Attendance: Staff should be punctual, unless they are unable to work due to sickness e.g. follow the correct procedure.
-Appearance: Staff should dress appropriately by following the requirements like wearing an uniform e.g. policies about tattoos and piercings.
-Behaviour: Staff should be open & honest when dealing with stakeholders, dealing with anti-bribing and corruption policies.
