Evolution -
the process by which living things change over time. It’s the result of genetic variation, natural selection, and inheritance.
Adaptation –
A trait or behavior that helps an organism survive in its environment.
Natural Selection –
The way nature chooses which organisms survive and reproduce based on their traits
Extinction –
When a species completely disappears and no longer exists.
Variation –
Differences in traits among individuals of the same species.
Mutation –
A change in DNA that can create new traits in organisms
Species –
A group of living things that can reproduce and have offspring.
Fossil –
The preserved remains or traces of ancient organisms found in rocks.
Ancestor –
An early form of a species from which later species evolved.
Fossil Record –
A collection of fossils that shows how life has changed over millions of years.
