A test in a controlled environment

A
A test which is done in a natural environment

Advantages of field experiments
A
They have a high level of validity because they don’t cause the Hawthorne effect

Disadvantages of field experiments
A
They are time consuming and are expensive, impossible to replicate data because results are not carried across

Advantages of Lab experiments
A
They are extremely reliable, remove bias because it’s controlled and therefore no influenced behaviour

Disadvantages of Lab experiments
A
Lack validity due to behaviour change coming from them not being in a natural environment, can’t get a natural view of society because society can’t fit in a lab
