Eye Staining Rubric
A
Introduce self
Verify identity
Describe procedure
Examined all needed materials including gloves, towels/drapes, tetracaine, saline, fluorescein, lamp, gauze
Wash hands
Apply gloves
Place 2 drops of liquid anesthesia; allow to anesthetize
Place 2 drops of saline on fluorescein strip
Hold open eye and touch with tip of fluorescein
Ask patient to blink several times
Turn off lights and inspect with black light
Examine eye, make sure to have look each direction and under eyelids
Flush with saline by having patient lean to one side with drape
