What are pedigrees?
the record of descent of an animal, showing it to be purebred.
what is selective breeding?
Selective breeding involves choosing parents with particular characteristics to breed together and produce offspring with more desirable characteristics.
what is genetic engineering?
the deliberate modification of the characteristics of an organism by manipulating its genetic material.
what is cloning?
Cloning describes the processes used to create an exact genetic replica of another cell, tissue or organism. The copied material, which has the same genetic makeup as the original, is referred to as a clone.
what is evolution?
evolution is the change in the characteristics of a species over several generations and relies on the process of natural selection. The theory of evolution is based on the idea that all species are related and gradually change over time.
what is natural selection?
the process whereby organisms better adapted to their environment tend to survive and produce more offspring. The theory of its action was first fully expounded by Charles Darwin and is now believed to be the main process that brings about evolution.
what is species?
A species is often defined as a group of organisms that can reproduce naturally with one another and create fertile offspring. While that definition seems straightforward, the classification of a species can be difficult and at times riddled with controversy.
what is adaptation?
Adaptation is the act of changing something or changing your behavior to make it suitable for a new purpose or situation. Most living creatures are capable of adaptation when compelled to do so.
what is valuation?
Valuation is the process of determining the worth of an asset or company. Valuation is important because it provides prospective buyers with an idea of how much they should pay for an asset or company and for prospective sellers, how much they should sell for.
what is extinction?
Extinction is the death of all members of a species of plants, animals, or other organisms.
what are fossil?
Fossils are the preserved remains, or traces of remains, of ancient organisms. Fossils are not the remains of the organism itself! They are rocks. A fossil can preserve an entire organism or just part of one. Bones, shells, feathers, and leaves can all become fossils.
what is speed/velocity?
Speed is the time rate at which an object is moving along a path, while velocity is the rate and direction of an object’s movement. Put another way, speed is a scalar value, while velocity is a vector.
what is acceleration?
Acceleration is the rate of change of velocity. Usually, acceleration means the speed is changing, but not always. When an object moves in a circular path at a constant speed, it is still accelerating, because the direction of its velocity is changing.
what is graphing motion?
You can use a line graph that plots an object’s distance versus its time to describe the object’s motion.
what is distance vs time?
A distance-time graph shows how far an object has travelled in a given time. It is a simple line graph that denotes distance versus time findings on the graph. Distance is plotted on the Y-axis.
what is speed vs time?
To solve for speed or rate use the formula for speed, s = d/t which means speed equals distance divided by time. To solve for time use the formula for time, t = d/s which means time equals distance divided by speed.
