1) Put food sample in a test tube
2) Put it into a boiling hot water bath
3) Add Benedick’s solution
4) Will turn brick red if glucose is present

Test for starch

1) Put food sample in a test tube
2) Add a few drops of iodine solution and shake gently
3) Will turn blue/black if starch is present

Question 3

Test for proteins

Answer 3

1) Put food sample in a test tube
2) Add Biuret solution and shake gently
3) Will turn purple if protein is present

Question 4

Test for Lipids

Answer 4

1) Put a food sample in a test tube
2) Add 3 drops of Sudan III stain solution
3) Will stain lipids bright red if they are present
