Fractions Flashcards
(4 cards)
If there is a negative sign in the numerator I can manipulate it by…
Taking out the negative sign and putting it in-front of the entire fractional term - (2x+3/13y) = (-2x-3/13y)
If I see two fractions with different denominators, how I can improve the ease of manipulation
Make into common denominator, LCM works. Can then treat the numerators like normal algebra while the new denominator hangs out
Fractions should be used for what pair of operations versus decimals/percentages?
Multiplication and division. While D/% should be used for addition and subtraction
Fraction busting is… exp:
1/2x + 1/3 = 5/6
When you multiply both sides with a number that will create whole values. Look for LCM
Multiply each fraction by 6 and boom way easier equation
