Frame Adjustments Flashcards
(14 cards)
What are the three major considerations when adjusting the frame front?
Pantoscopic tilt
vertex distance
face form
What does pantoscopic tilt provide?
8 to 10 degrees toward the cheek
correct tilt: Reduce glare, provides the correct optics, and especially important for progressive lens wearers.
What is retroscopic tilt?
- opposite of pantoscopic tilt
- may be necessary for wearers with full cheeks
- too much or too little tilt negatively affects vision and overall appearance
When adjustments are made, they should always start:
at the front of the frame
When the bottom of the frame front is angled away from the check, it is called:
retroscopic tilt
What is the space called between the back of the lens and the front of the eye?
vertex distance
When the front of the frame matches the curve of the face, it is called:
face form
The nose pad’s front angle should be:
closer together at the top than the botton
If the frame front is too high, which of the following can be done to lower it?
Widen the nose pads
By angling the endpiece down at the temple you will:
increase the pantoscopic tilt
What is the space called between the back of the lens and the front of the eye?
vertex distance
The nose pad splay angle is also called
spread angle
If the frame front is too high on the right side which of the following can be done to make it level?
raise the right temple
