What is a drainage basin?
A drainage basin is an area of land where all the rainwater flows into one main river and then out to the sea or a lake.
How do drainage basins work?
They work by catching all of the water that has formed from things like rain and melting of ice. This flows out to make a river or a lake which then flows all the way to the sea.
What work do rivers do?
Transport minerals and nutrients. (main one) but can also be Home for fish. Fishing grounds.
How does the river change from source to mouth?
At the source of the river it has got only a little bit of water with little minerals in them, and at the end it has got a lot of minerals and things like rocks. They also form things like meanders.
What land forms are found a long a river?
Waterfalls, meanders, ox bow lakes.
Why is the River Daube important?
It is important because of how much things that it does. It transports water all across Europe and it is home to a lot of fish and many people use it as a source of food and money by things lie fishing and trade, using it to go to different places.
What happens when there is too much water?
When there is too much water, things like floods could happen. This could also cause droughts because if all of the water is used at once then there won’t be other sources to get for a few months.
How can flooding be managed?
It can be managed through buildings like dams and the make of trees through the river.
