Rio-Niteroi bridge
The Rio-Niteroi bridge is 14km long and opened in 1974, Joins rio to nitoroi across guanabara bay, has 140,000 vehicles using it daily

Yellow line expressway
Opened in 1997-21km long. connects barra di tijuca(west) to north and international airport. has a toll bridge becuase rios authorities could not afford the full costs of construction.

New road connecting southern region to Barra di tijuca
New 5km two lane elevated road has been built parralel to an existing two level road that straddles the ocean, two new tunnels have been dug through hills that seperate the neighberhood of barra da tijuca from the city

Rio Metro
opened in 1979 with 2 lines 35stations and 41km of track. carries 1.1 million passangers per day and is state owned.

Rio Trams (VLT)
an old santa teresa tram preserved as history and used by tourists however in 2016 rio opened a new tram system (VLT)
Rio travel card
Rio launched an integrated travel card in June 2016 that allowed people visiting for the Olympics to have unlimited access to public transport, reduced numbers of cars.
